Fight For Furrever Program
Fight for Furrever is our neonatal kitten program designed not only to rescue the most vulnerable kittens—but to educate and empower others to do the same.
This initiative was inspired by Gideon, a tiny fighter who reminded us just how fragile—and strong—life can be. Through this program, we aim to carry on his legacy by offering critical care to orphaned newborn kittens and equipping fosters and community members with the tools and knowledge to help save these delicate lives.
What We Do
This program focuses on educating and supporting fosters who are interested in caring for orphaned newborn kittens and helping more people learn how to save these fragile lives.
Because caring for neonatal kittens requires frequent feedings, warmth, and medical support, many shelters are unequipped to help—often resulting in heartbreaking outcomes. Our goal is to change that by training a network of fosters who can step up when kittens are found in need.
While we cannot provide 24/7 kitten intake, we work to place neonatal kittens into foster homes when space and resources are available. By growing our team of trained fosters, we can save more lives together.
Gideon's Story
Gideon came to us on September 1st, 2024 when he was just a few hours old. His mother had unfortunately passed away after experiencing dystocia from trying to give birth to another kitten.
Gideon struggled at first to feed, but once he got the hang of it - he was a pro! However, we noticed that Gideon wasn't really gaining a lot of weight and wasn't thriving the way we had hoped. His fosters did all of the right things - they provided him warmth in an incubator, fed him every 2 hours around-the-clock, stimulated him to go potty, and gave him love and affection.
At 5 weeks old, Gideon began to show signs of weakness. His fosters noticed that Gideon was having neurological symptoms by running into things and he had small seizures. We believed Gideon had something congenitally wrong with him. It was at this time that we had to make the difficult decision to let Gideon go to the rainbow bridge.
Although his story wasn't what we had hoped for, creating this program where we can help educate people on neonatal care in his honor truly inspired us to help more kittens just like him.
