Cat Sanctuary!
Furrever & After Cat Sanctuary is a passionate, foster-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2020 by Leah Beatty. Our mission is to create brighter futures for cats—especially those with special needs—through rescue, rehabilitation, and education within our community.
Leah, a graduate of Stautzenberger College with a diploma in Animal Welfare Management and an Associate Degree in Veterinary Technology, has dedicated her life to helping cats in need. She works hands-on with the animals daily and is committed to empowering pet owners through education. She believes in collaboration over competition and actively works alongside fellow rescues and animal welfare organizations to maximize impact.
As a foster-based rescue, we currently do not have a physical shelter—but we’re working toward that goal. Establishing a dedicated facility will allow us to expand our reach, help more cats in crisis, and provide a safe, healing space for those who need it most.

Meet Furat! Furat îs a kitty that came to the United States from a middle eastern country called Oman. In Oman, Furat was abused and neglected and sadly had his ears cut off by a perpetrator who was never found or caught.
After a 16 hour flight, then riding in a car for 7 hours, then later arriving to our board members home, Furat finally made his way to us where he is now looking to find the purrfect furrever home. Furat is 4 years old and has been fully vetted and would love to be your new furry companion. Please click on the button below to apply for him.
What we do
Intake and Surrenders
We take in special needs cats and kittens from various situations and place them in appropriate approved foster homes if space allows until they are ready for adoption.
Veterinary Care
We provide veterinary care for all of our cats and kittens. Veterinary care includes spay/neuter, testing for FIV/FeLV, dewormer, flea preventative, and microchipping. We currently work with an amazing vet in Lisbon, Ohio.
Adoptions
We make sure all of our cats and kittens are going to the best home that is suitable for them. All potential adopters go through an adoption process and once approved, we set up meet and greets at an appropriate day and time with the adopter to ensure that it is the right fit.
TNR Program
We implement the importance of Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate, and Return for outdoor community and feral cats through our TNR program, Once Upon A Feline TNR.
Sanctuary Campaign
Furrever & After Cat Sanctuary is working toward opening a small brick-and-mortar location that will serve as a safe, healing space for 10–15 cats at a time, with a special focus on those with medical or behavioral needs.
This cozy, home-like environment will allow us to provide daily care, host meet-and-greets, hold small fundraisers, and welcome the community into our mission.
It’s a vital first step toward creating a permanent sanctuary for the cats who need us most—and a more personal way for adopters and supporters to connect with our rescue.
